Preserving art and artefacts requires meticulous control over temperature and humidity to prevent damage such as colour fading, cracking, and deformation. The Art Sorb humidity controller effectively minimises deterioration caused by climatic fluctuations, making it a solution for preserving heritage items.

Moisture Control Technology

Art Sorb is a specialised moisture-sensitive silica material humidity controller designed for climate control in sealed environments, particularly for preserving fine art, artefacts, documents and delicate fabrics.

Its primary function is maintaining stable humidity levels by adsorbing and desorbing moisture. Lithium chloride enhances its ability to reduce humidity in high-humidity conditions.

Humidity Control for Art Preservation

Compared to silica gel desiccants, Art Sorb provides precise humidity control and reacts quickly to humidity changes in environments ranging from 40 – 70% relative humidity. It is recommended to place Art Sorb in airtight display cases with sufficient air contact for effective operation without direct contact with the artefact.

With a shelf life of approximately five years, with recommended intermittent humidification checks after two to three years of use, Art Sorb is a reliable solution for fine art preservation and artefact protection, contributing to the longevity and integrity of valuable items.

  • Safeguards art, artefacts and valuable items in sealed environments
  • Maintains a stable environment, preventing damage from temperature and fluctuations in humidity
  • Prevents damage like cracking, deformation and colour fading for up to five years
  • Outperforms silica gel traditionally used in preserving items in high humidity
  • Available in sheets, cassettes, and beads which are ideal for airtight display cases
  • Requires humidity checks using a hygrometer every two to three years
